Signs for Survivors

​October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and pink ribbons seem to be popping up everywhere. You can buy almost any product emblazoned with a pink ribbon these days, but that doesn’t always mean the proceeds from those purchases help patients and survivors. Want to support the cause and feel good about where your money’s going? My talented cousins at M&P Paint and Design are creating custom wood signs for breast cancer survivors this month – and you can order one for yourself or someone you know! Sign creator Meghan was inspired to give back by her own experience:

My word is brave​. I was 33 when I had my double mastectomy. Seven surgeries and four years later, I am cancer-free and healed. During this process, I saw a quote that said, “On brave wings she flies.” I often said this to myself when there seemed to be no end in sight. I needed to be brave for my husband, children, parents, sister, family, students, athletes and everyone else I may come in contact with who is fighting this disease. Breast cancer research saved my life. It is time to give back.

​Proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research on behalf of the Michigan Softball Academy. The University of Michigan softball team will hold the eleventh annual softball academy on April 23, 2020. Since 2007, this event has raised over one million dollars for breast cancer research! 

Don’t know a survivor? No problem! You can sponsor a sign and M&P will deliver it to a patient or survivor for you. Personalize your sign by choosing the word, font and color you’d like as well as the size - $10 from each small sign and $20 from each larger sign will go directly to breast cancer research. Not only will you be supporting a great cause, but you’ll also help a small business operated by a survivor! ​
