Book & Tea Pairing: How to Be Well When You're Not

In the latest book from chef/nutritionist/author Ariane Resnick, you’ll discover unusual recipes like sweet potato water and choco-cado fudge, inspired by one woman’s journey with Lyme disease and chemical poisoning. While much of the book reads like a personal diary, somewhat raw and unedited (she wrote the whole book in just a couple months), Ariane’s story of one serious diagnosis followed by another is one many can relate to.
Her coping strategies – gratitude, meditation, whole foods – aren’t unique. We all know the benefits of these practices, whether we actually follow them or not. The real value of the book is in the first and last sections, where Ariane shares her personal story of searching for a diagnosis and coping with unexplained symptoms and the unusual recipes that she’s created on her journey to healing.

If you’ve been diagnosed with Lyme disease or chemical poisoning, Ariane’s experience will especially resonate with you. But her simple recipes for health and healing can benefit anyone. As we transition into colder months and flu season approaches, easy bone broths, elixirs and healthy twists on comfort foods are the perfect recipes to keep handy for those days when you’re feeling under the weather.
And for the days when even simmering a few simple ingredients in a saucepan feels like running a marathon, you can reap some of the same superfood benefits from Buddha Teas’ CBD Turmeric and Ginger Tea. This blend, reminiscent of Ariane’s Pain Relief Tea Concentrate, contains water-soluble CBD, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant turmeric and stomach-settling ginger, with zero caffeine.

As Ariane herself says, “In general, I’m big on avoiding making health claims about foods. That said… turmeric has such solid proof backing its ability to relieve pain, and I’ve seen it work more times than I can count. The effects are potent.” Just be prepared for a slightly more pungent and bitter taste if you’re not accustomed to turmeric or ginger.
