Have you ever scrolled through your Instagram feed and felt like you just don't measure up? More and more studies are linking social media use with negative effects on mental health. But our social feeds are something we largely have control over. It's true - if you see your Instagram account as a way to stay connected with positive people and intentionally curate content that makes you feel good, it can become a space for inspiration and healthy habit-building.
Becoming more intentional about the type of content I'm exposed to has made a noticeable impact in the way I feel when using social media, especially when it comes to Instagram. If you struggle with a chronic illness, your daily dose of positivity can sometimes be hard to come by.
Hitting that "unfollow" button is the first step in creating a more positive feed. If someone's posts don't make you feel good, don't follow them! Remember, quality over quantity. The next step is filling your feed with posts that inspire, energize and make you feel connected. As my Insta feed makeover has unfolded, I've stumbled on some accounts that continually post positive thoughts and inspiring content. Here are seven accounts that have taken my feed from blah to brilliant.
